Our Mission

Grace is a young lady with Down syndrome. GracePlace Art is a project aimed towards turning Grace’s artwork into an opportunity for empowerment. Each GracePlace Art purchase allows Grace to practice basic life skills, while also spreading awareness and supporting the community at large. Through sharing her story, Grace hopes to inspire others and promote a culture of kindness and inclusion for all.

Awareness

Loving and raising a young lady with Down syndrome has taught us so much. Most importantly, that Grace is so much more than her disability. Grace is a daughter and a friend; an artist and a dancer; a student and a teacher; the list goes on and on. Our hope is to bring exposure and representation to the Down syndrome community, reminding the world that they are just as capable and full of life as the rest of us while empowering them to follow their dreams, no matter how wild. In addition to our own efforts to raise awareness, we dedicate a portion of profits towards the special needs community by supporting various organizations of Grace’s choosing throughout the year. As we grow, so will our impact. And we’re looking forward to the journey!

Kindness

Our guiding force has and will always be kindness. We believe in the power of a smile; a wave; a note. We’ve seen it ripple outward as one pays it forward to the next. Grace’s gift card sets are meant to be just like that. The sort of gifts that keep giving and giving, leaving waves of kindness in their wake. Each set of cards is made to be given with love. Each card to be written and sent just the same. A sort of kindness revolution, so to speak. Sweet words, scribbled on paper, sent into the world.

Inclusion

No matter where she is or what she’s doing, we want to ensure that Grace feels welcomed, respected, and included. GracePlace Art serves as a platform for us to practice inclusion at home in a small business setting. Not only is Grace the artist, but she also works closely with us throughout the printing, packaging, and shipping process. Doing so has allowed her to learn skills that will enable her to contribute to new projects in her future.

However, inclusion is necessary, not only for Grace but for the special needs community as a whole. Equal access and equal opportunities are standards that we aim to embody, as well as promote in the world around us. GracePlace Art has given us a wonderful opportunity to work with and support fellow organizations that share our values of inclusion, as we keep ‘Sharing the art of Grace to create a better place.’
